About

About

Founded in 1992 as the Boston Amateur Golf Society, Rhode Island Division (B.A.G.S.-RI), the Amateur Golf Tour of New England (AGTNE) was established during the 2019 season. Taking the reins from former director James Rooks, the new AGTNE director, Paul Dumont, helped take the existing B.A.G.S.-RI membership and expanded its reach to appeal to golfers throughout New England. AGTNE has continued the tradition of tournament golf for golfers of all abilities.
HIGHLIGHTS OF AGTNE

AGTNE participates in about 80 events per season, approximately 3 per week from early April to late October. Members can participate in the events that suit their schedules. Host courses will include public and private courses located in Rhode Island, eastern and central Massachusetts, southern New Hampshire, and eastern Connecticut. AGTNE seeks out those courses that provide an optimum combination of both quality and value.

GOLF GENIUS

AGTNE has taken full advantage of the application of Golf Genius software to give our members easy to access information and up-to-date statistics. The AGTNE site as well as the Golf Genius mobile app provides live scoring, online event registration and payments, as well as individual player statistics.

PR0 Division

New for 2022 is the formation of a Pro Division.

Golf Professionals can sign up for membership and register for tournaments to compete against each other in stroke play and skins pools.

Handicaps

AGTNE is a USGA member club with state affiliations with the Rhode Island Golf Association and Mass Golf association. Golf handicap Information Network (GHIN) handicaps may be established and maintained through either state association or at another club. Scores from AGTNE rounds will be posted to the member’s GHIN record after each event. Members may choose to carry over their GHIN handicap affiliated with RIGA and/or Mass Golf.

Prize Fund

Tournament prize funds are paid out in the form of AGTNE credits which may be used towards any future event. The tournament prize fund is divided up among the top finishers in the gross and net divisions based on the number of participants. Optional side games (gross, net, gross & net skins, zero’s pool) are also available at each event.
